In 1984 at age 2: won the Princess Margaret Stakes and the Lowther Stakes (GB-G2); in 1985 at age 3: won the Irish 1,000 guineas (IRE-G1), the Coronation Stakes (GB-G2), and the Child Stakes (GB-G3) Her name, Al Bahathri is Arabic for Lavender. She was bred in Kentucky by Thomas P. Whitney, foaled March 15, 1982 and was bought for $650,000 at the Keeneland July Sale. She was trained by Tom Jones in Newmarket. She became one of Sheikh Hamdan's top-class fillies. Al Bahathri was named the 1985 Champion 3-Year Old Filly in Ireland. She was retired at the end of her 3-year old season and entered Shadwell as a broodmare. She quickly became a highly successful broodmare. Died May 2014 at age 32
