Bred by: Jaime Benedit-Haras Principal in Argentina; sold, as a juvenile, to Juan Carlos Viano, trained by O.L. Finarelli in her first three ARG starts. Purchased for US$300,000 by Janis and Frank Whitham; Ron McAnally was her trainer throughout her career in the States. Won the 89-90 Breeders Cup Distaff; in the 1990 Distaff, she raced against the brilliant Go For Wand (tragically, she suffered a fatal fracture in the race). Bayakoa was retired from the track in 1991. Pedigree notes: Bayakoa is inbred 3x4 to Nasrullah and 5x5 to Count Fleet. Bayakoa's dam, Arlucea, was a stake-placed mare and half-sister to Michichola (by Aristophanes). Bayakoa was profiled in "Royal Blood:Fifty Years of Classic Thoroughbreds" author Jim Bolus, released by Blood-Horse 1994.
