6-3-0-0, $2,100. foaled April 10, 1923 According to Sam Hildreth, who trained her, Siren was one of the few horses he had seen who was much better in off going than on a fast track. Siren had a rather unusual history in that she was bred essentially for the U.S. Army Remount. In 1922, Sam Riddle had donated one service to Man o' War to the Remount, while A. B. Hancock had donated one year's use of the mare Star Puss. Man o' War and Star Puss were mated, the result being Siren, who sold at the 1924 Saratoga yearling sale for $8,100 to Rancocas Stud, with the proceeds benefiting the Army Remount. Siren later became the dam of the good juvenile Black Buddy.
