Sprightly won his first Fifty at Alnwick 1759, after which Swinburn decided that he had no future as a racer, and ordered his groom, Rose, to use him as a saddle-horse, and sell him. However, Rose continued to train him, and took him with the others to Chester in 1760, where he won another Fifty, and went on to win 12 more; raced also 1762 (aged), owned by Mr. Swinburn, then owned by Mr. Cornforth, raced in York, August 22, 1763; September 1763 (Mr.Swinburn), 1764, May 8, (Mr. Swinburn);
