His skeleton was recently moved from the Smithsonian Institute to the Horse Museum at the Kentucky Horse Park Became blind when he was 15. During the American Civil War, privately owned horses were frequently taken by the army for use in battles and because of Lexington`s value and his blindness he was kept hidden to avoid being taken. His son, Cincinnati was given as a gift to General Ulysses S. Grant.
