MURANA I gr. M, ARABIAN, 1808
| Color: gr
WEIL*1
Imported in 1816 to Weil Stud, Germany, by Baron Fechtig in Trieste as agent.
NOTES: The above information is from Mare Charts in the 1908 Weil stud book. Hügel [p37] adds a strain of Saqlawi Jidran and describes Baron Fechtig as a man who himself founded an Arabian Stud in Hungary. Fechtig had a very skillful man working for him in Damascus who handled horse purchases for him there. In the year 1816, Murana I was acquired from him at the port of Trieste, a common route for shipments from the Middle East into Europe.
NOTE:
Recent mtDNA research showed that Murana I is most likely of the strain Koheil Adjouz
