Old Mary was one of the great Texas Quarter mares. She foaled in about 1908 and died in 1925(?). She was sired by Ben Burton by Blind Barney, and she was out of Mandy by the Old Dutchman. Her second dam was Het by Bill Gregory by Steel Dust. She was bred by Dick Baker, of Weatherford, Texas. Later she was purchased by Parker who sold her to W. T. Waggoner, of Fort Worth, Texas in 1912. She foaled Yellow Wolf by Old Joe Bailey the first year Waggoner had her. In 1913, the following year she had Yellow Bear by Joe Bailey, and in 1920 she foaled Yellow Boy by Yellow Jacket. Jim McFarlane, a Weatherford rancher who was aquainted with Mary, said that she was by Ben Burton and out of Mandy by Eureka. Called dun as were all buckskins at that time, she was BUCKSKIN, NOT DUN.
