Was registered as a TB with sire listed as Duke of the Highlands, but no secret was made of the fact that this was just for racing purposes and his sire was really Dan Tucker. MSY (Y chromosome DNA) analysis of male line descendants turned up two different types, neither of which is expected for Duke of the Highlands. Breeder: Samuel Watkins, Little Grove Stock Farm, Petersburg, IL. Later owned by John Wilkins, San Antonio, TX.; Milo Burlingame, Cheyenne, OK.; Si Dawson, Hayden, CO.; & Coke Roberds, Hayden, CO. He was raced successfully from April 1897-Oct 1899. 41-9-5-7. His official record 2 yr-old: 16-8-1-2; 3 yr old: 12-1-2-3; 4 yr-old: 10-0-1-1 plus he ran in many match races. As a stud proved to be one of the greatest sires in the Quarter Horse breed. Sired 44 foals that figured in AQHA pedigrees. Died 1923 Virtually unbeatable race horse in his day. Legends volume 2.
